Kit: Brandaris
Description:The Brandaris is a landmark on Terschelling, it is an active lighthouse and still used to keep track of vessels around the island and also responsible for other tasks, the building is not open for public visits.
This construction kit is a combination of laser cut wooden parts and electronics. The result is the brandaris with leds, the tower is on top of a stand which contains the electronics. The cuircuit behaves similar to a solar cell controlled garden light, during the day the accu charges, when it gets dark the lights are on until the accu reaches it's lowest level. Nice product to place just behind a window, and a discussion topic, almost nobody has this !
It is developed using an xTool S1 40W laser machine, the wooden parts are developed using Fusion 360. The hardware contains a PCB, which is developed in KiCad and produced by JLCPCB.
To create a sellable kit, the wooden parts should not be completely cut out, but kept in frames. This requires small parts of wood to remain 'connected', those are called tabs. These are added by using Inkscape.
The final wooden frames are produced by snijlab in Rotterdam. This means: less work since it is outsourced, good quality and good quality FSC certified wood.
Such a kit is seen as a product suitable for children, therefor certain CE requirements should be described and met.
CE certification is mandatory for such a product.
This kit exitst out of two parts:
1) The Brandaris lighthouse
2) The stand + leds + electronic componenets
